For operators
This section is for operators who watch cameras for a living. You already have a NovaVMS account and you need the fastest path to live video, recorded clips, and evidence export. If you only have read access to a few cameras, see the viewer guides instead.
Start with this flow
- Set up your personal workspace
- Open the dashboard and triage system state
- Watch multiple cameras in a live grid
- Save and reuse grid views
- Record a manual clip
- Review an event
- Search and filter events
- Use natural-language search
- Share a clip as a time-limited link
- Export signed evidence (v2 preview)
- Acknowledge or resolve an alert
Common urgent tasks
- Acknowledge or dismiss an alert — when an alert fires and you need to triage it immediately.
- Record a manual clip — when something happens on screen and you need it preserved before it ages out of the buffer.
- Share a clip link — when you need to send a clip to someone outside NovaVMS without giving them an account.
- Export signed evidence — v2 preview, not in v1. Documents the tamper-evident MP4 pipeline planned for v2. For v1, use Share a clip link above.
If something is broken
- Live view is black
- Camera is offline
- Export produces an empty file
- AI analysis is missing on an event
- Alert flood — too many alerts firing
